Spring Flowers & Nature Metaphors

Spring flowers are so surprising. One day you just turn around and there's a pop of green or purple or yellow: colors you haven't seen in nature in months!

Whenever I see them, it hits me, "Oh yeah! Winter's on its way out and things are coming to life again!"

As the flowers started popping up over the last several days, I thought about how they're sort of a metaphor for this "delights" project. Even amidst the cold, gray weather, there are small bits of beauty to be found if I am open to noticing, just as there are delightful things happening in my everyday life. I do my best to notice them, record them in my notebook, and sometimes write about them here, which helps me to savor them even more.

Here's a pretty little flower that is growing all alone in the crack between my driveway and fence. It is a delightful little thing!
