Kindred Spirits

If you are a fan of Anne of Green Gables, then you know what I mean when I say "kindred spirits." Anne is always on the lookout for a kindred spirit: a person who shares her values and interests, someone that she just vibes with right away, who truly gets her. It's such a delight to meet a person like this, and a lot of times you can tell a kindred spirit right away. You just get that inexplicable feeling that you connect with a person, you know?

Today is Independent Bookstore Day, and Pete, Margaret, and I went to Storyline Bookshop in Upper Arlington since we hadn't been there since it opened. It was packed! Normally, a packed store is annoying, but this was exciting because I just knew that nearly everyone in that shop was a kindred spirit: a person who loves books and reading so much that they would show up to celebrate bookstores, a person who would wear a shirt or hat or carry a tote that expresses their book lover identity, a person who you could casually start up a conversation with.

Anne said: "Kindred spirits are not so scarce as I used to think. It's splendid to find out there are so many of them in the world." Today, I agree with her. We waited in a long line to buy our books, but it was a delight to see so many kindred book lovers like myself in that space.
