Naps
Last Saturday I found myself in a rare and glorious position: a day with not much to do. I reveled in this free time in a variety of ways, but arguably the best thing I did was take a nap. I lay down on the couch thinking that I would catch a quick twenty minutes, but I ended up being dead to the world for a full two hours!
My tendency in life is to take naps, but my current stage of life doesn't regularly afford me that option. My mom says that I would come home from Kindergarten and take a nap. In high school, if I had a busy weekend, I would sleep a whole day to recover. My class schedule in college allowed me to take naps almost daily, and during my first year of teaching, I was so exhausted that I would come home from school, nap for at least an hour, and then come back to life in time for dinner. Once I had kids, I loved nothing more than to lie down with them for their Sunday afternoon nap.
When I woke up from last Saturday's nap, I was shocked that I had slept for so long. But I felt relaxed and refreshed. It was delightful!
